1st Journal

The first example I found of the Divine being Imminent in the text was the one we discussed on Pg 29 when the gods are watching the wedding and seeing the joy of the people they assume human form and join the people. Also i found on Pg 13 "Rama hesitated; for all her evil, she is still a woman how could he kill her?" Rama is imminent in the feeling that its not right to kill a girl yet it doesn't affect him in this case and he kills her.

On Pg 8 "I have passed the sacred ground beyond the Ganges many of times..." "But there are creatures hovering about waiting to disturb every holy undertaking there..." I'm thinking that this is illusionary and that the creatures are not visible, maybe it is more of a spiritual thing.

Pg11 "they felt as if they were wading through a cool stream with a southern summer breeze blowing in there faces." This is after meditation and they are in the middle of an arid dessert, I believe it is showing the spiritual side of the culture and maybe how strong the mind is.

Pg33 "Dasaratha swelled with pride.." I think this is illusionary by showing how excited and proud he was it gives you an imaginary of a man being blown up like a balloon.

Two Promises Revived

At first Rama's stepmother is happy to hear Rama is becoming king. Pg40 "Wonderful, Wonderful hear is the reward for the good news you bear" Giving Kooni a necklace as a present.

The nurse seems to change her attitude towards Rama by wanting him exiled because she was promised by Dasarutha that her son Bharatha would be his successor.

I believe Dasarutha would have realized that it is Rama's dharmic duty to live in the forest for fourteen years because of the promises he made. Even though he wanted Rama to be king if he didn't die I think he would have lived with Bharatha being king.

Chpt 6

Vali "What mistake in me have you seen that you must destroy me thus?...When two persons are in conflict with each other and you are in favor of one how can you hide and attack the other? Creatures like us test our worth and strength with out sinews and muscles."pg-109

Rama-"... you misunderstood everything and before he could express his relief and joy on seeing you, you belabored him mercilessly and tried to take his life...beyond all this you violated his wife's honor and made her your own."pg-110

I believe Rama's arguments are better that Vali's because his are deeper in meaning and more just that Vali's. I think that Rama did the right thing for the right reasons and Vail's arguments are just a defense/ feel bad method. I think this kind of relates to what we were talking about in American Gov of pro life- Republicans and pro-choice democrats and the arguments form both sides how pro life is the original right thing to do, and how pro choice is an option and can be justified by some people in situations.

I believe my karma is pretty good I believe in karma and i think about it a lot before I do something. I haven't noticed it a ton recently but I have in the past when I have borrowed money from my brother and never paid him back then I end up loosing money somehow. I think one thing I would change in life is going back to freshman year and really focus on getting good grades. I think after slacking freshman year I gave up on junior and sophomore year and now as a senior I see how if you focus grades aren't that hard. And it would affect where I'm going to college.

I believe that Rama is somewhat but he always seems to treat guys with respect even though they might not deserve it, and with girls he is similar to a lot of males in that most guys treat girls differently when it comes to respect than they do other males.

Lastly I believe the major evidence in the battle being mental and spiritual because of the magic astars. Also how Ravana's head keeps growing back may be symbolizing that he will never have a different mind set on the situation even with out his head he will never change even when dead.
